A Video of a Monk who Prays ALOT!
May 2nd, 2009 | Author: So I Found
So I found this video of a monk named Hua Chi who prays so much that he has left imprints on to the wooden floor!
Hua, who is about 70, has been performing a strict daily ritual at the site in the monastery town of Tongren, in Qinghai province, China, for nearly 20 years.
The footprints are 1.2 inches deep where the balls of his feet have pressed into the wood.

[..YouTube..] Most people waste their life. He’s actually using his for something good. If developing kindness and opening your heart to others is wasting one’s life then what isn’t? There’s all too much selfishness and greed in the world. What we see here is someone thinking about something else, someone else, for a change.

[..YouTube..] This monk is actually prostrating, which has outer and inner levels of meaning. Outer – respect to the enlightened teacher, teaching, and spiritual companions on the path. Inner – recognizing the true nature of mind – the unity of wisdom &compassion. The aim – not “the afterlife,” as we don’t believe in a permanent, heaven-like afterlife; the goal is purifying one’s cognitive and emotional obscurations and uncovering the enlightened state so one can show all other beings how to do the same.

[..YouTube..] Buddhist beliefs are based on very rigorous logic, not blind faith. But even if there was only one life, a mind selflessly focused on others’ welfare (without expectations & attachment) will be much happier than an uptight mind grasping at its own happiness, putting itself before others. So either way, this monk is doing anything but wasting his life. Not to mention that it doesn’t necessarily take all day to do a couple thousand prostrations anyway, so he’s still had time for other things lol.

[..YouTube..] I hope you aren’t really depressed by three words posted anonymously online. That might indicate a health problem.Personally I’m saddened by the thought that there are people on earth so dedicated to their imaginary friends that they spend long hours pretending to communicate telepathically w/ them.

[..YouTube..] I’m an atheist. He’s a buddhist monk, and he’s not praying to a god or any kind of deity. He’s praying as a form of meditation.

[..YouTube..] I know where the monk is coming from. I also have an imprint in my couch from ‘meditating’ many hours a day. The secret is to take just the right amount of vicodin, then put in a porn tape and meditate til the wife gets home from work.

[..YouTube..] From what I understand, Buddhists believe in divine justice, making them religious. W/e he’s praying for, he’s wasting his time. He isn’t going to be reborn better or happier, or at all.If he hadn’t been brainwashed from childhood to accept an irrational, occult belief system, he might now be doing something more productive than continually exercising his legs and back. It’s tragic.

[..YouTube..] And do you think living for yourself, or for your Lexus, or the next momentary pleasure is not a waste of life? I don’t believe in this man’s faith, but I do believe that we are meant to live our lives for God and living out that faith in love toward others.

[..Comment..] One thing in buddism I think is true and this guy doesn’t get is the middle path!Middle path is like the equilibrium!Help yourself, help the others, go the middle path! The footprints says He is dedicating to the extreme, of course He is missing other important things when doing this
